Art theory with brett andrus

  • Know the rules before you break the rules! This Art theory Class is designed to introduce you to the basics in art making fundamentals. Students will explore color theory, compositional theory and design principles. Visual art making has a science behind it and understanding those ideas will empower you in your studio practice. Stop relying on accidents and start introducing a foundation as you explore. This is one of our popular classes we offer, and we only offer it every couple of years. Act now and don’t miss out.

Drawing 101 with brett andrus

8 weeks of classes meeting on Tuesdays 5:30-7:30pm

  • If you have never drawn before, or feel rusty on your drawing skills, this is the class for you!

    Students will be taught basic sight reading, handling of media, artistic vocabulary, still life and

    life drawing, and introduction to perspective. This class is the perfect starting point for all classes in the Bosky Studio curriculum. Drawing is the backbone for all art making. If you learn how to draw, everything else will become just a little easier. Dip your toe in, test the waters, and see if you like making art.

Introduction to watercolor with Sophia Hanna

9 weeks of classes meeting on Wednesdays 7:30-9:30pm

  • Learn the fundamentals of watercolor in this 9 week course. We will focus on material basics, figures, still life’s, and some plein air! The course will ensure you have a strong foundation in watercolor painting, or solidify your existing skills. Supplies will be provided.

Introduction to Oil Painting

  • Have you been curious about oil painting? This class is for you! Students will be given an introduction to oil paint and knowledge of how best to utilize this medium, including basic color mixing, still life, life painting, and an introduction to art history. No oil painting experience required, but a basic knowledge of drawing is preferred.

Oil Painting Studio With Brett Andrus

  • Whether you are continuing your oil painting journey, or just dipping your toe in the pool, this class will help you on your way. The instructor will meet each student at their skill level, teaching them new applications and techniques. Each student will see progression in their art practice as they lay the groundwork for continued success. Class is designed to be a fun, interactive safe space for artists to explore one of the most versatile art making mediums.

OIL PAINTING WORKSHOP

August 3-7, 2024— $850

The Conceptual Portrait

with Dorielle Caimi

In this five-day workshop, Dorielle will teach students how to paint a conceptual portrait using classical and contemporary painting techniques in oils. After the portrait is rendered, she will guide and challenge students to add to, destroy, cover, and/or remove elements in the students' paintings to encourage a conceptual reveal in the portrait. This workshop will address the formal elements of representational painting (form, blocking, value, color matching, edges, proportions, and composition), but will also encourage students to cross over into the world of conceptual art using representational portraiture as a springboard.

This workshop includes a lecture, a demo, and one-on-one guidance. All levels welcome!
